Well-Child Visits
Regularly scheduled preventive care is one of the best things you can do to keep your child healthy. Well-baby appointments and annual checkups are great times to have growth and development checked, get required vaccines and establish a relationship with your child's provider. Minor concerns can be discussed and handled before they become bigger issues.
Typically, children have well-child exams at the following ages:
- Newborn (see below)
- 2 weeks
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- 2 years
- 2.5 years
- Annual until age 18
If your child needs a form completed to participate in school, sports or camp, that form can often be completed during a well-child checkup. Please bring it with you to your child's appointment. Click here to learn more about school, camp and sports physicals.

Newborn Visits
If your child is born at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, you will receive a visit from Susan Grainger, PNP, or the on-call pediatrician before you are discharged. Then, your child's first appointment in our office will be at our Kernersville location on the Saturday morning after your discharge from the hospital. Subsequent appointments will be scheduled at the office most convenient for you.
