The wide variety of patients he gets to see and medical conditions he gets to investigate keeps Steve C. Kearns, MD, excited about coming to work every day. "I love seeing babies up to college students," Dr. Kearns explained. "Our patient population is excellent, and the staff here is wonderful as well."
Dr. Kearns earned an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar. He went on to complete medical school at Wake Forest University, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
While Dr. Kearns enjoys most aspects of pediatrics, "I especially like pediatric sports medicine," he said. "I like working with young athletes to help them both prevent injuries and feel better if they do get hurt."
Married for more than 10 years, Dr. Kearns and his wife have two children with one more on the way. "We love staying active with the kids," he shared. "On my own, I participate in sports, hike, backpack and kayak when I can. And after we've all worked up an appetite, I enjoy grilling for friends and family."
